When I was a ninth grader at Marcus Whitman High School in rural Rushville, New York, I was taking Spanish I with Mrs. Evelyn Dunn. I loved every minute of it. However, I had my homeroom in the Latin room of my school with Mrs. Wyman. Under my desk, there was a Using Latin I book which I read from cover to cover with the help of Mrs. Wyman. I was hooked on Latin immediately! Mrs. Wyman retired and Mrs. Dunn took over as the Latin teacher. Inspired by my teachers, I took both languages throughout my high school and college years. It was fate that I had homeroom where I did because I believe that I was meant to be a Latin teacher.
