Don Buck, a Hunter College graduate and retired Latin teacher, sent this update about Bill Mayer:

Friends of Bill Mayer might like to know that he retired from teaching at Hunter College two years ago and has unfortunately has been hospitalized at a nursing home in Pennsylvania.

If you went to an ACL annual meeting in recent years you've seen Bill's work. He was vice-president from 2009-12, arranged the conferences, and often presented pedagogical papers. He served as president of CAES twice and spoke frequently at its conferences.

Bill is living in western Pennsylvania, near his family, at Presbyterian Senior Care, 835 South Main Street, Washington, PA 15301. He greatly enjoys hearing from friends and colleagues by postal mail or e-mail, but his illness makes it hard for him to answer.

A secretary at this e-address will be sure that Bill gets e-mails: You should put “To Bill Mayer, resident” at the top of your message.
