Biduum Cornellianum May 1-3

SALVI is teaming up with the Classics Department at Cornell University to offer the Biduum Cornellianum May 1-3. The Biduum Cornellianum is a weekend event for people interested in practicing and learning about oral/active Latin in the classroom and beyond.
This event is appropriate for anyone who has learnt the fundamentals of Latin grammar (the equivalent of at least one year of traditional college Latin or two years of high school Latin). However, no prior experience with spoken Latin is required!
The Biduum will be a welcoming experience for all! Justin Slocum Bailey, Anna Andresian, Dan Gallagher, Diane Anderson, and John Young will be instructing. CAMWS Summer Travel Award Applications

Any interested teachers should consider applying for a CAMWS Summer Travel Award. Due to low numbers of applications, the deadline has been extended to January 30, 2020.

These awards include appr. $5000.00 to attend the AAR Summer School (Grant Award), appr. $4500.00 for the ASCSA Summer School (Semple Award), and up to $3000.00 for other appropriate summer programs (e.g., https://camws.org/node/1005 (Benario Awards).

Please note that CAES teachers are *all* eligible, even if you are not in CAMWS territory. Their school simply needs to be become a CAMWS member. ("CAMWS members teaching at  a school outside CAMWS territory are eligible to apply for these awards if their schools are current institutional members of CAMWS (https://camws.org/institutionalmembership).

Job Opportunity in Orange County, NY

The Montgomery Montessori School, located in Orange County, NY is currently seeking a part-time foreign language instructor. The position is flexible and compatible with current teaching/scholastic responsibilities, and they are open as to what language(s) students would be instructed in. The instructor must be willing to adapt to the Montessori model of education (ie: students are expected to demonstrate complete mastery prior to advancing to the next topic and typically are allowed to advance at their own pace, no grades, etc.) What we offer the instructor (besides remuneration) are small class sizes, extremely enthusiastic students who are eager to learn, and a supportive teaching environment.
